Want to learn more about The Macallan 55?
The 55-year-old scotch resides in a decanter, especially created for The Macallan. The natural color decanter was designed by the French crystal house Lalique. Tradition holds that the person who buys the last shot from a bottle of rare Scotch gets to keep the decanter. The St. Paul Grill upholds the tradition, offering Macallan’s special edition Lalique crystal decanter, valued (empty) at $750 each.
This cask-strength scotch matured in a sherry oak cask at the Macallan’s Easter Elchies House in Speyside, Scotland for 55 years before it was made available for consumption. The scotch has been described as “dark rosewood in color, the liquid has aromatic notes of exotic, sweet dried fruits with a hint of peat-smoke. The finish is wonderfully soft, smooth and spicy with lingering touches of citrus.” The Scotch’s dark, deep color is echoed in the perfume-bottle-style cork that accompanies the Lalique crystal decanter.
